Skiing and Snowboarding - Vail Mountain
Famous worldwide as North America’s top ski resort, Vail is an extraordinary vacation experience. Spanning seven miles are seven legendary Back Bowls, 5,289 skiable acres blanketed last year with over 38 feet of powder snow. Private or group lessons from Vail's team of elite instructors can help you conquer any type of terrain. Whatever your level or interest, Vail Snowsports School has a variety of programs to help you reach your goals. With over 160 instructors from around the world, representing 30 countries, instructors speak a variety of languages to meet and exceed the needs of international clientele.  Ski School Lesson and Nursery reservations must be made 2 days in advance.  Walk-In participants will be accommodated based on availability. Adventure Ridge:

Play in the afternoon and well into the night at Adventure Ridge with ski bikes, kids snowmobile track, a slippery slope of rip-roaring tubing lanes and more. A snow park the size of a football stadium on top of the mountain and family food favorite Bistro Fourteen. Drink hot chocolate and watch the sun set over the bowls.  Adventure Ridge, a family experience.  


Nordic Sports Center :

Need a day off the slopes or looking for something different to do? Try one of Vail’s Nordic experiences. Take a backcountry Snowshoe or XC tour in the beautiful white river national forest, or learn new skills like Telemark and XC skiing.


Snowmobile Tours:

Nova Guides  For the ultimate snowmobile experience choose one of Nova Guides half or full day excursions. The tours include endless miles of open meadows and spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of 4 surrounding mountain ranges including the Continental Divide. Operating the tours in the White River National Forest at Historic Camp Hale, they reach elevations of 12,500 feet.  All tours include door-to-door transportation, a professional guide, new snowmobile, snowsuit, boots and helmet. The morning 1/2 day tour and full day tour include lunch while the afternoon 1/2-day tour includes a hot beverage.


Meadow Mountain Tubing Hill:

Snow Tubing is a Blast!  Don't miss this "must do" activity while in Vail. Gone are the days of trudging uphill with the sled and kids. Ride up the hill in style on our lift, then tube down our groomed tubing runs. All members of the family can participate; no lessons required. Conveniently located between Vail and Beaver Creek, just off I-70 at exit #171, on your right at the Holy Cross Ranger Station.


4 Eagle Ranch Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride Dinner:

Crisp mountain air, starlit skies and an open horse-drawn sleigh await you at 4 Eagle Ranch. They'll pick you up at your front door and take you back to the way Colorado used to be. Check out a million stars in the endless night sky while snuggling under cozy blankets for an unforgettable sleigh ride in a private ranch setting. Enjoy a drink by the open-hearth fire in the historic Nelson Cabin (circa 1890), and some of finest cooking this side of the Continental Divide. Ice Skating:

With several quaint outdoor rinks and a full-size indoor arena, Vail ice skating is the perfect complement to a winter vacation. 
Indoors: Dobson Ice Arena - Dobson Ice Arena holds open skating at varying times Friday through Monday and Wednesday.
Outdoors: Alderhof Ice Rink - Located in Bavarian-inspired Lionshead Village at the base of Vail Mountain, open daily from 1-9 PM late November through mid-April. Admission free with skate rental.
Black Family Ice Rink - Right in Beaver Creek Village, Black Family opens daily from 12-9 PM November  - April. Kids 12 and under cost $8 and adults are $14; pay $5 with your own skates.
Nottingham Lake - This naturally freezing lake in Avon usually opens in mid-December from 12-8 PM. Rentals cost $8; admission is free.
